EU Industry Day

After a first successful edition last year, EU Industry Day is coming back with an extended edition. On 22 and 23 February, 600 participants representing key industrial, finance, research and innovation players as well as high-level EU policymakers will gather in Brussels.

They will take stock of the ambitious strategic approach to industrial policy presented by President Juncker last autumn and debate the future of European industry on the “Road to 2030”. President Juncker will deliver a video message, and the Commission will be prominently represented by Vice-Presidents MaroĆĄ Ć efčovič and Jyrki Katainen as well as Commissioners ElĆŒbieta BieƄkowska and Carlos Moedas. The High-Level Industrial Roundtable ‘Industry 2030’, chaired by Vice-President Katainen, will meet for the first time, as an important advisory instrument for the implementation of the Commission’s renewed industrial policy. EU leadership in the transition to clean and sustainable energy is a big priority to the Commission and this is demonstrated by the launch of the first edition of the Clean Energy Industrial Forum, centred around three industry-led initiatives: batteries, renewables and construction. Industrial actors will present 20 priority actions as part of the new European Battery Alliance. The Commission will launch a €10 million EIC Horizon Prize for the development of a reliable, safe, low-cost battery for e-vehicles, and sign a €52.6 million InnovFin loan for the start-up Northvolt to build a gigafactory for battery cells in Europe. The role of key enabling technologies, such as micro and nanoelectronics, to modernise European industry, boost innovation and solve societal challenges will also be discussed. The Commission’s High Level Strategy Group for Industrial Technologies chaired by JĂŒrgen RĂŒttgers will present preliminary results on its work and propose to include artificial intelligence as well as security and connectivity as part of these key transformative technologies in the next framework programme for research and innovation. Four dedicated factsheets on the key pillars and announcements of the EU Industry Day are available: batteries production, renewable energies, skills development and the construction sector.


Allseeds: An example of safety and quality

Operating a highly modern and technologically advanced Оil extraction plant and Vegetable oil terminal, Allseeds Group has got the capacity to produce and supply sunflower oil of the highest quality to the world market.

On February 26, 2017, Allseeds sent a vessel Wine Trader carrying 5900 Mt of sunflower oil from Yuzhny port to Italy. It was unloaded at the destination port on March 7-9. The supply operation, until the very unloading in the port of Ravenna, was, as usual, under control of the surveyors NofaLab and Dr.Buschmeyer.

The cargo quality was examined to ensure adherence to the EU and Codex Alimentarius 210 standards, including in the content of mineral oils, pesticides, heavy metals, sterols, fatty acids and benzopyrene.

Quality certificates issued by European inspection services confirm the highest quality of the sunflower oil and its adherence to all EU standards, including in cholesterol content (at less than 0.1%, while the norm is 0.5%).

It is impressive how this sunflower oil shipment to the European Union, one of the many by Allseeds Group, was carried out right at the moment when the hysterical campaign on sunflower oil allegedly adulterated by ‘chicken fat’ was unleashed in the Ukrainian media.

Eurostat: Industrial production down by 0.6% in euro area

In June 2017 compared with May 2017, seasonally adjusted industrial production fell by 0.6% in the euro area
(EA19) and by 0.5% in the EU28, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European
Union. In May 2017, industrial production rose by 1.2% in both zones.
In June 2017 compared with June 2016, industrial production increased by 2.6% in the euro area and by 2.9% in
the EU28.

Monthly comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State

The decrease of 0.6% in industrial production in the euro area in June 2017, compared with May 2017, is due to
production of capital goods falling by 1.9%, durable consumer goods by 1.2%, non-durable consumer goods by
0.4% and intermediate goods by 0.3%, while production of energy rose by 1.8%
In the EU28, the decrease of 0.5% is due to production of capital goods falling by 1.5%, durable consumer goods
by 0.8%, intermediate goods by 0.4% and non-durable consumer goods by 0.3%, while production of energy rose
by 1.4%. Among Member States for which data are available, the largest decreases in industrial production were registered in Ireland (-7.5%), the Czech Republic (-3.8%) and Malta (-3.2%), and the highest increases in Luxembourg (+3.4%), Estonia, Croatia and the Netherlands (all +1.2%).

Annual comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State

The increase of 2.6% in industrial production in the euro area in June 2017, compared with June 2016, is due to
production of energy rising by 5.1%, durable consumer goods by 4.0%, intermediate goods by 3.8%, capital goods
by 1.6% and non-durable consumer goods by 0.6%.
In the EU28, the increase of 2.9% is due to production of durable consumer goods rising by 4.2%, intermediate
goods by 3.9%, energy by 3.7%, capital goods by 2.4% and non-durable consumer goods by 1.5%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in industrial production were registered
in Estonia (+14.5%).

ALLseeds develops Black sea port Yuzhny

The Group Allseeds started to implement the second stage of its global development in Yuzhny port, the construction of a multifunctional soybean crushing plant, with a daily production capacity of 5,000 tons. This plant will be unique in capacity among the European oil extraction plants.

According to the estimates of the company, the plant’s construction and the upgrade of the infrastructure necessary for the plant’s operation will take about three years.

Launching such a plant will require the company to increase its reception and shipping by about 1,7 million tons of raw materials and processed goods – soybean meal and oil.  The development the plant will include additional funds for the infrastructure capacity increase in Yuzhny port – a complex that includes elevators, tanks and railway facilities.

Scaling up the production will allow Allseeds to realize consequent synergies and to raise the company’s efficiency through significant savings on the fixed costs.

As a result, this development will allow the company to remain competitive.

Allseeds will become the No.2 company in the oilseeds market of Ukraine with a total crash capacity of  2.5 million tons per year. The amount of investments of Allseeds in Ukraine will reach $ 500 million.

“Major engineering companies of the world’s oil extraction industry –  such as Andreotti Impianti, Europa Crown, Desmet Ballestra, Jiangsu Muyang and others – are taking part in the tender for the supply of the equipment and technology for this new plant,” indicates Viacheslav Petryshche, head of Allseeds Board.

Mobistar devient Orange

Le changement de nom est une stratĂ©gie de l’entreprise : «Le conseil d’administration de Mobistar s’est unanimement prononcĂ© en faveur de l’adoption de la marque Orange en Belgique avant la fin de l’exercice 2016. Ce changement permettra en effet Ă  l’entreprise de dynamiser sa transformation et de soutenir son dĂ©veloppement stratĂ©gique au travers de nouveaux services proposĂ©s aux consommateurs et aux entreprises», affirme la marque.

Son association au groupe Orange pourra faire bĂ©nĂ©ficier Mobistar «d’un meilleur accĂšs aux innovations et Ă  l’expertise du groupe ainsi qu’à la puissance unanimement reconnue de la marque Orange.»

REPORTAGE: Quel avenir pour les disquaires? #bruxelles #musique


Ce matin, notre Ă©quipe de reporters est allĂ©e Ă  la rencontre des disquaires d’occasion du centre de Bruxelles pour les interroger sur l’Ă©tat de ce marchĂ© Ă  l’Ăšre d’internet.

Si le constat global est plutĂŽt nĂ©gatif, certains aspects des magasins de disques attirent toujours les clients. “Il y a 10 ans, internet est arrivĂ©, et le marchĂ© s’est complĂštement Ă©croulĂ©”, explique FrĂ©dĂ©ric, gĂ©rant du PĂȘle-MĂȘle du boulevard Lemonnier, avant d’ajouter “lĂ  ça fait Ă  peu prĂšs 5-6 ans qu’il est de nouveau en progression, mais dans un autre domaine, plus collector et objet que musique en tant que telle”. Le caractĂšre physique du disque, offre donc un plus par rapport aux formats dĂ©matĂ©rialisĂ©s pour le consommateur; le vinyle notamment reste un objet prisĂ©, surtout par les collectionneurs, grĂące Ă  son aspect ‘collector’.

L’autre avantage indĂ©niable du magasin de disque est son cĂŽtĂ© social. Selon Dominique, disquaire au magasin Arlequin, dans la rue du chĂȘne, “il y a encore des gens qui aiment aller voir dans les magasins, avoir des avis, des conseils…”. En effet, l’accĂšs Ă  la musique est bien plus facile sur internet, mais il est toujours agrĂ©able d’ĂȘtre conseillĂ© et guidĂ© lorsque l’on dĂ©sire dĂ©couvrir de nouvelles choses. Pour les jeunes gĂ©nĂ©rations cependant, cette dĂ©marche ne va pas de soi.

Ce type de commerce n’en reste pas moins difficile Ă  faire vivre “Il y a 6-7 ans, on avait 3 magasins, on Ă©tait 7 Ă  travailler… maintenant on a plus que 2 magasins, on n’est plus que 3 Ă  travailler”, raconte Dominique. Selon lui, c’est surtout le CD qui est touchĂ©: “Les vinyles j’en vends toujours autant qu’avant mais les CD, j’en vends moitiĂ© moins”, mais il Ă©met Ă©galement des doutes quant au ‘boum’ du vinyle prĂ©dit par l’industrie du disque.

Une chose est certaine en tout cas, c’est que les disquaires existeront tant qu’il y aura des collectionneurs et des passionnĂ©s de musique pour les faire vivre, et c’est maintenant aux jeunes gĂ©nĂ©rations de faire perdurer cette passion.

Women in Business prĂ©sente son baromĂštre sur l’entrepreneuriat fĂ©minin #bruxelles


Women in Business, la plateforme de soutien Ă  l’entrepreneuriat fĂ©minin en RĂ©gion bruxelloise, a prĂ©sentĂ© son baromĂštre « L’entrepreneuriat au fĂ©minin dans la RĂ©gion de Bruxelles-capitale ». Celui-ci dresse la situation des femmes entrepreneures sur le marchĂ© du travail bruxellois Ă  travers, notamment, quelques chiffres clĂ©s.

C’est ainsi que l’on remarque une nette amĂ©lioration dans le nombre d’indĂ©pendantes en rĂ©gion bruxelloise, celui-ci ayant augmentĂ© de 34% en dix ans. Mais les constats ne sont malheureusement pas seulement positifs. En effet, les indĂ©pendantes bruxelloises sont notamment moins nombreuses que dans les deux autres rĂ©gions de Belgique et leur revenu moyen est toujours 20% infĂ©rieur Ă  celui des hommes.

Le baromĂštre dresse Ă©galement le « portrait-type » d’une femme entrepreneure : la majoritĂ© des indĂ©pendantes bruxelloises exercent une profession libĂ©rale ou intellectuelle, ont moins de 35 ans et ont un diplĂŽme supĂ©rieur.

Didier Gosuin, le Ministre bruxellois de l’Emploi et de l’Economie, Ă©tait prĂ©sent lors de la prĂ©sentation du baromĂštre. Conscient des dĂ©fis soulevĂ©s par l’entrepreneuriat fĂ©minin, celui-ci a remerciĂ© l’initiative entreprise par Women in Business avec ce baromĂštre. « On ne fait pas de bonnes politiques sans avoir une bonne connaissance de la situation » assure-t-il. GrĂące Ă  ces informations, il sera prĂȘt d’ici 2016 Ă  se donner des objectifs et les moyens pour les atteindre. Il espĂšre notamment se hisser dans la moyenne des pays europĂ©ens au niveau de l’activitĂ© entrepreneuriale des femmes, la Belgique Ă©tant actuellement le dernier pays du classement.
